With the month of March just 24 hours away, I am at my wits end with this winter weather! My outfit choices have gone back to the basics. Between this outfit and Tuesday's, I think I have covered the blacks, whites, and browns more than enough. Hopefully the sun comes out this weekend and brightens things up a bit; until then I'll survive wearing white oxfords and leather goods like this color block clutch to add a pop of color.

[ Forever 21 Jacket & Necklace, Zoe Karssen Tee (tank version), Zara Leggings, Ivanka Trump Booties, Gorjana Chevron Rings, Butter by London "Teddy Girl"]
This outfit combo reminds me of a mixed media piece of art... with a little bit of everything. Leather panels, stud buttons, subtle graphics & text, and color block. I wore this outfit to a taping of The Colbert Report last week in NYC but never snapped pics so I threw it on again this weekend (because I knew I would be seeing different people). As I mentally prepare for Spring, I am moving more away from deep red lip colors. I am not quite ready for the brights, so this nude lip color has been my savior.

Sometimes I love the simplicity of a black on black look. Simple accessories like the ones pictured always stand out against their black backgrounds making an otherwise neutral outfit more vibrant. My favorite piece of this outfit is the vintage jacket I'm wearing; it belonged to my maternal grandmother. She gave it to me around eight or so years ago and I pull it out for special occasions or when I feel like wearing a dressier jacket. Ironically, it has a fur collar and you know what they say, everything comes back into style!

[ Young, Fabulous & Broke Maxi Dress (on sale), Forever 21 Jacket (similar), Anthropologie Necklace, Zara Booties (lusting after these), Madewell Socks (so many fun colors), Kate Spade Bag ]
I wore this to brunch last week in NY (which brunch is easily my favorite meal) and I completely forgot how comfortable anything maxi is. It just might get to the point where someone has to tell me that I should probably try wearing something OTHER than this dress for once. The weather also was very cooperative (unlike that blizzard 2 weeks ago) to allow me to wear some cute patterned socks with these booties. There becomes a point during the winter where I just cannot think about putting on a pair of tights.

Here are some fun finds for you to end the week! We are thankful that the weekend is finally here, as it's just been one of those weeks where there aren't enough hours in the day. But then again, it seems rare to ever truly accomplish everything you had intended. Hope you fill your weekend with something fun.

Today we are embracing the infamous Throwback Thursday, better known as "TBT" on Instagram. These pictures were taken on the campus of UMass Amherst, our alma mater, when I picked my sister up to come home for the long weekend. For those of you who know and love UMass as much as we do, you'll know I'm on Sunset Ave. right outside the dorms Ally and I lived in sophomore year; we even included a little #TBT for you down below! As for my outfit, I love a good cardigan and this printed one in flame (a color I'm currently loving) gives a little fun to a classic piece. The color and print made it much easier to pair with this necklace and boots, making my look much more fun.

[ Anthropologie Dress, Forever 21 Jacket (similar), J.Crew Cardigan, Shoes (also in leather), Tights & Necklace, Kate Spade Bag, M.A.C "Hang Up" Lipstick, Butter by London "Bluey" ]
Last week I was in NYC to see some friends, go to a live taping of The Colbert Report, and to see the Carolina Herrera show at fashion week! It was a whirlwind, as most few day trips are, and my feet will have to forgive me later for walking around in heels the whole time. There are certain sacrifices that you have to make for fashion! I had a great time and the show was truly amazing.

Lately, it has been snowing every weekend here in New England but with the official start of spring just one short month away, I am itching to start mixing up my wardrobe. Even though it was far too cold over the weekend, I swapped my winter coat for my Burberry quilted coat and scarf. Both of these items are a few years old but being the classic pieces that they are, I will never get tired of them. It also helps to have snagged this coat in a bright color which certainly stands out against the stark white of winter!

Ally [ Free People Jacket, J.Crew Sweater & Pants, Madewell Shirt, Steve Madden Boots, Anthropologie Headband (similar here & here), Kate Spade Bag ]
It wouldn't be a trip to NY without visiting the tourist spots and take in all of the hustle and bustle. We did some quick shopping and dining and walking around Rockefeller Center. I wore my recently purchased military jacket, that was posted recently here, layered over my favorite cashmere hoodie for just enough warmth.

Gold is not only all the rage for fashion accessories, but also for the home. Gold is the new "it-girl" when it comes to accent pieces and really gives a touch of old Hollywood glam to any room in your house! It also poses as a great pop of shine against the very popular shades of grey and blue that are being used in interiors right now. Happy Friday! xoxo

In shopping for Fashion Week, I was really determined to find a cool fatigue jacket... not realizing that they are everywhere in every shape, size, color, and combinations of fabrics. I ended up going with this one (plus its 50% off) that will be great for the spring (if the Groundhog even knows what its talking about). I am also really into the leather sleeve with the fatigue green. Great combo! xo Ally (will keep you posted on the happenings at Fashion Week).

[ J.Crew Peacoat (current), Necklace, Cords, & Belt (similar), J.Crew Factory T-Shirt, Chinese Laundry Pumps ]
These photos were taken a little over a week ago before New England was pummeled with a blizzard named Nemo. I was lucky enough to be in NYC over the weekend where it barely snowed, but coming home to the 5 foot high drifts was no easy task. Aside from the 24+ inches of snow we have on the ground right now, I am still looking forward to spring weather and this outfit combines the best of both worlds: warm winter fabrics and pastel spring colors.
