I picked this jacket up from J.Crew during winter 2010 at an absolutely silly sale price.  I saw it styled in the December 2010 Style Guide (formally, catalog) and for some reason just really liked it.  The fact that it is shaped similarly to a pea coat makes it seem classic yet the buffalo plaid print gives it a much different feel.  It wouldn't necessarily say it is my style but I have gotten lots of use out of it, especially around the holidays!  As we know, trends always return and two years later, J.Crew is still showcasing buffalo plaid with this similar Nili Lotan Jacket for J.Crew and this Perfect Shirt in Buffalo.

Reunion

I had my 5 year high school reunion this past weekend (I can't believe it's already been 5 years) and as one of the class officers, I was part of the planning committee. We kept it low key and it was really fun to see a lot of people! I went with a casual sweater dress with boots and a leather jacket to give it a little bit of an edge (I was voted "Best Dressed" in my yearbook... ironic that now I am typing this on our fashion blog)!

I'm all about dressing up for the holidays, but on a day like Thanksgiving, comfort matters too.  I chose these super comfy Pixie pants, a loose blouse, and a warm velvet blazer.  I was perfectly dressed for the days activities and enjoyed spending quality time with family.  I hope you all did too!

I can never believe how fast this Thanksgiving weekend goes by. It was so nice to have a few days off from work, see family, and even end my Sunday with a massage and the return of Sunday night shows. Our Thanksgiving was more low key than usual (and by low key I mean 20 people instead of over 40). I always struggle with the idea of wearing sweatpants over something cute, but this year I couldn't resist this french dog sweater. Hope you had a nice holiday weekend!

I love the primitiveness of this skirt and how underratedly comfortable the flowy, light material is. I also loved packing on the trends here with the midi length skirt, chambray, and fur vest. I have become very attached to my glittens this month as the cold weather snuck in (which is getting me really excited for the holidays). Whoever came up with the concept of winter gloves that still allow you to text, deserves a lot of credit.

A week or two ago I decided I needed to add some bright colors to my sweater collection so I took a quick trip to my closest Forever 21 and this sweater is what I walked out with.  I wore it this past Sunday running errands and hanging out with family. I love the slouchy fit and the fun it brought to an otherwise drab outfit.  Recommendations for any other bright sweaters? Please share and we hope you all are having a great short week!

Like a Lady

I was dying for a "Lady Jacket" as just another alternative to a blazer. My mom pulled through for my birthday and I just love how preppy and classic this one is. I foresee myself wearing this often to work or over a sparkly top for a night out. I also just wanted to share with you the website Society6. I came across it through Apartment Therapy where I made my first purchase. I love the uniqueness of the art and the support for artists to get their work recognized. So, I couldn't resist the cool iPhone cases for when my iPhone5 finally arrived!

Celebrating in Cobalt

I celebrated my birthday this weekend (one week early) in Boston with college girlfriends. We had a great girls' night out, dressed up, and enjoyed each others company while catching up after months of not seeing each other. I love having an excuse to dress up and I started my night at a makeup event at the Dior counter to get my smokey eye done. I also am a huge fan of the Dior skin care and use this Cleanser, Toner, Sorbet Cream, Eye Cream, and Lip Moisturizer as part of my daily beauty routine.

Faux Fur

Some of you may have seen this faux fur vest on me before and if you have, you know how much I love it.  I picked it up on super sale last winter and have been dying to wear it ever since I tucked it into the back of my closet sometime in early March. This past weekend I finally declared it cold enough for this vest to make an appearance; now that there is snow on the ground in MA (wild weather!), I know it was the right decision.  I've paired it with some light layers here but I am sure it will make another appearance soon in a much more winterized fashion.  Stay tuned!

InstaWeekend

Just arriving back from a girl's weekend in Miami to celebrate my friend, Lauren's birthday. The weekend was filled with sunshine, delicious food, exploring South Beach, and some very different nightlife than we're used to in Boston. The weather couldn't have been more perfect so it was extra brutal coming back to a frigid Massachusetts. After trips like these, I really appreciate how easy it is to capture some great moments using just an iPhone and instagram.

Today we are featuring Michelle and Kayla in what we'd like to call, a fall uniform.  Both girls are wearing four essential items for fall: bomber jackets, scarves, cozy sweaters, and boots!  I can assure you they were much warmer than I was in yesterday's post when shopping in Amherst over the weekend.  This look is an all around favorite and can even take us into winter with a few more layers.
