Summer isn't officially over for a few more weeks but Labor Day weekend always seems like the farewell to summer and hello to fall clothes. Seasonal transitions are always the hardest to deal with, but it's always fun to get the sweaters out of storage and play with layers. Hang on to those bright colors though, don't wish yourself into the cold weather darkness just yet!

One Year

It's almost that time of year again, back to school time!  We never wanted the lazy days of summer to end but it was always fun going back to school shopping in late August.  If you are anything like us, you still take pleasure in unofficial back to school shopping; fall always seems to be the perfect time to bring in the new so treat yourself to some of these fab finds and pretend you're a kid again!

Pop Back

Here's some official J.Crew lingo for you.... This shirt was a "pop back" (a popular item that sells out and then later pops back up) and magically in my size. I was in love with the bright neon stripes and couldn't wait to dress it up and wear it casual, but kept missing out on it! Certain things are just meant to be.

Polka dots are all the rage right now and this top has been one of my "go-to's" all summer. It's lightweight and can be dressed up or dressed down in an instant. I'm also channeling a little of my inner Audrey here in these photos with my first attempt at a sock bun (much like Ally's here) and I have to admit that I'm loving it!  How are you guys wearing polka dots (and sock buns)?!

I often get antsy with my clothes and find myself gravitating towards the same items every week. Recently, I reorganized my closet by color (before it was organized by long sleeve tee, short sleeve tees, sweaters, etc.) and now I have such a different perspective of the inventory that I have and can be more creative with my outfit combos!

Copy Cat Monday

Today is Copy Cat Monday at Confessions of the Glitterati!  We don't do this often but after seeing Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere's post last Wednesday titled Buttoned Up I just had to copy her.  Sometimes I see an outfit and love it even though there may be nothing particularly special about it; this is one of those looks. It's just a casual everyday outfit that makes the transition from summer to fall seem effortless.  So a big thanks to Emily from us for posting this look!

Ellie Kai 

After a two week vacation in the Cape, Ashley caught wind of a local Cape Cod designer by the name of Ellie Kai.  A friend was wearing an Ellie Kai dress and we just had to know where it was from!  Looking further into the brand (her website is a wealth of information) we found that like us, Ellie Kai is all about promoting individual style.  Her brand operates under 3 key steps: 1. Find your favorite style of dress, shirt, etc. 2. Customize it by choosing from a variety of Ellie Kai fabrics and 3. Placing your order.  Ellie Kai employes sales consultants to help you in this process and her site also offers a list of trunk show locations where you can go see the items for yourselves.  There are quite a few upcoming shows in the Boston area and you just might find us at one of them!  Check out Ellie Kai and tell us what you think!

I last wore this maxi dress here and decided to give it a more dressed-up feel for work this time. This white blazer is always a versatile piece and switches it up from the basic black blazer. By adding the wrap belt, it gave the top part of the dress a small peplum shape, which was fun and also a happy accident. I also always like to add a bright lip color to dress up an outfit, and in this case keep the outfit from being too pastel + springy.
