Snowed In

Dear Bloggers and Readers,
Your Glitterati have been nomads/ living in the pilgram age this past weekend. Yes this picture is real and yes we got about 12 inches of snow on Halloween weekend. We have been without power since Saturday night and will have to postpone some of our really cute outfits for just a little while longer... because let's face it, we've been in pajamas and fleece bathrobes all weekend. Hope your Halloween was a little warmer and brighter than ours!

To make up for it, we posted a picture of Rachel Bilson, now starring in the CW show "Hart of Dixie." We have to say that we just ADORE the show and more importantly her outfits! We kind of wish we were living in Alabama right about now.

Fab Finds

80's flashback to Saved By The Bell? No... just an iPhone cover (from Urban Outfitters). The new iPhone just came out so go get yourself an update and a cute cover! There are so many cute covers these days by designers like Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, J.Crew, and Rory Beca.
[ Skinnygirl White Cran Cosmo - Bethenny Frankel ]
Your glitterati absolutely LOVE Skinnygirl Cocktails (and pretty much anything Bethenny Frankel)! We have been patiently awaiting the arrival of Bethenny's latest premixed cocktail: Skinnygirl White Cran Cosmo and finally found it! We have to say, it's pretty amazing and Bethenny knocked it out of the park again. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Skinnygirl Cocktail line, there are two more premixed drinks: Skinnygirl Margarita and Skinnygirl White Sangria. All three of these flavors are delicious and we recommend them to anyone and everyone! Have a GNO (Girl's Night Out) and DRINK UP!

[ crochet sweater, jacket, boots - Nordstrom, jeans - Madewell, necklace - Jewelmint, bracelets - Forever 21 and J.Crew, cocktail ring - Forever 21 ]

Just like in the "Fall Staples" post, Amelia flaunts a fabulous outfit that consists of fall's most versatile pieces... a great jacket, skinnies, and leather boots. She wore this crochet sweater (similar to Ally's here) with some jewelry that all complimented the neutral beiges. This Forever 21 ring was only $3 and she has gotten SO many compliments on it (we've heard them)! So it doesn't take expensive jewelry to really make a statement. We're deconstructing the basics so you can keep them on rotation and get maximum usage of what's already in your closet! A pair of dark skinnies and boots will take you a long way.

Bootie & the Beast

[ sweater dress - J.Crew, tights - Anna Sui, boots - Lucky Brand, jewelry - Stella & Dot and J.Crew ]

We want to show you how we're wearing our booties this fall. Something as simple as spicing up the pattern of your tights will bring a whole new life to your outfit. Also, a sweater dress is a must have for the fall and winter! You can dress it up with jewelry, add a belt for some shape, or wear it loose like in these pictures for a little comfort. Let some of your stems show, tights or not, with little booties as opposed to knee high boots. Boots with some moto-flair and buckles give some edge to a very simple and girly outfit. There are so many more ways we love to wear booties so stay tuned for more looks and inspiration!

Earth Tones

[tissue turtleneck, puffer vest, necklace (pictured below) - J. Crew,
scarf - Macy's, jeans - Forever 21, boots - Lucky Brand]
Yesterday was one of the first really cold days this fall and I chose to combat it with this casual look. Knowing I'd be chilly, I jumped at the chance to wear this new J. Crew tissue turtleneck tee and it was the perfect choice. I'm not one to mix patterns (i.e. striped turtleneck and plaid winter scarf) but decided to try it out and these earth tone pieces were the perfect chance! I ended up wearing this outfit most of the day, complete with the scarf and vest, and decided these mixed patterns weren't so bad after all.

J.Crew Aficionada Blog Roll Call!

We just wanted to share with you how excited we are to now be a part of the J.Crew Aficionada blog roll call! You can see our blog name along with so many other fabulous bloggers at J.Crew Aficionada. As lovers of all things J.Crew we want to thank Alexis for her blog and support :)

Fall Staples

[ jacket, scarf, earrings - J.Crew, jeans - J Brand, blouse - Nordstrom, boots - Lucky Brand ]
This jacket is so cute that it can be worn outside or as part of the outfit. The red is so rich and different from a typical black fall coat. Don't be afraid of color! A scarf and a cute jacket are really the only things you need to make a casual outfit more fun. I wear this scarf almost every day because it can go with just about everything! Then just find your favorite pair of jeans, your best leather boot, and all you have to do is switch up your top and you have a whole bunch of new, fabulous outfits for the week!

Fab Finds

Doesn't everyone want to live a day in Kate Middleton's shoes? Her style is so classic and is really making a major impact on American fashion. I think we all fell in love with her the day she announced her engagement to William in this blue wrap dress and it's possible for you to wear one just like hers! This Halston Heritage wrap dress is technically affordable for princess-copying attire. Match it with some classic black pumps or dress it up with some funky strappy shoes and go out and find your William! Kate is actually one of the hottest Halloween costume trends this year... What are you going to be for Halloween this year?
Are we loving this skirt? YES! It's Versace for H&M coming to stores November 17th. (Hopefully it will go more smoothly than the Missoni for Target disasterous event). It plays off the basic black mini with some Versace special touches. Put on some opaque black tights, booties, and a blazer and go have a fabulous GNO (Girl's Night Out)!! We loved this scarf too... It's bright, it's loud, and it's animal print.
This is a necklace that Ally has been looking at FOREVER and is putting it on her birthday wishlist for next month (hint hint). This Lauren Joy necklace for Dana Rebecca Designs is just so dainty and sweet. It's perfect for that everyday piece of jewelry when you don't want to wear big crazy gems & stones (which for us, that is a rare thing). You can see this necklace on so many celebs these days and was also featured in People StyleWatch August 2010.

L: [shirt dress, necklaces, bracelet - J. Crew, oxford - Polo Ralph Lauren,
sunglasses - Ray Ban, boots - Lucky Brand]
R: [oxford, sweater - Forever 21, leggings, necklaces - J. Crew, boots - Frye]
This past weekend I headed out to Western, Ma to visit my sister (pictured here). We went to brunch at the Hotel Northampton and unfortunately, I forgot my camera; this is the only photo we were able to snap on her camera before I hit the road! I am pictured in a J. Crew military style shirt dress, layered with an oxford underneath and some brown tights! The look was loosely based off this charcoal gray shirtdress in the September 2010 J. Crew catalog. Michelle is wearing an pale blue oxford paired with a cream sweater and her look is loosely based off the second photo. Monthly catalogs are great sources to emulate. It doesn't mean you have to go out and buy an entire look, just find similar pieces in your closet and go with it!

Seasoned Palettes

'Double Cloth Townhouse Trench' - J. Crew $350
Pleated Maxi Skirt - Topshop $90
'HRH' nailpolish - Butter London $14
'Danielle Earrings' - Kendra Scott $60
'Perfect Leopard Shirt' - J.Crew $78
Ankle Boot - Zara $159
'Mini Rose Double-Layer Cashmere Sweater - Neiman Marcus $295

Here's some fun for all you fashionistas! The latest House Beautiful magazine had gorgeous rooms with some fall color inspiration. This further inspired us to put together some fun outfits with the warm hues of fall. Think of your outfit as an interior design project. Create layers, use different textures, and organize your colors. "Opposites attract" - couldn't be more true... the cool colors of the torquoise earrings and dark purple nail polish will compliment the orange and make your outfit pop! Take the opposite route to the "color blocking" trend and use monochromatic ensembles by using two different shades of orange. Then at least you won't look like a blob... there will be dimension!

Silk Blouse - Marc by Marc Jabos for Piperlime $278
Cords - Lucky Brand for Piperlime $69.50
'Armana' necklace - Anthropologie $168
'Mona Suede Pumps' - J. Crew $198
Tote - Piperlime $54.50 (on sale)
Faux Fur vest - Piperlime $62.50 (on sale)
'The Full Monty' nail polish - Butter London $14

Here, start with your neutral basics and add some unexpected swatches of color. Kill two trendy birds with one stone by wearing this red hot tie neck blouse and a fur vest, then leave the rest of the outfit to some simple items. Give your public eye something to look at! Hot pink heels? I think we all need some, and why don't we already? Finally, this necklace's contemporary clean lines compliment the  other relaxed shapes.

Look around... we can learn a lot from a room!

Holding on...

to summer weather.
[ oxford - Polo Ralph Lauren, shorts - J. Crew, winter socks - Forever 21,
Melissa Button boots - Frye ]
Clean cut and classic.
It may be October but the sun is still out in full force. Last weekend, Michelle chose this outfit to attend a local college football game on a Saturday afternoon. Not wanting to say goodbye to the warm weather just yet, she threw on these adorable shorts from J. Crew and a classic Polo oxford, completing the outfit with her favorite Frye boots. This look is a great alternative to the common skirt, socks, and boots trio and much more functional, especially for a football game. The muted colors and the combination of warmer/cooler weather pieces make this outfit a hit. Wear those boots and shorts before it's too cold!

Purple Majesty

[ vest, bracelet - J. Crew, purple dress - Rebecca Taylor (similar here), boots - Lucky Brand, Aurum Necklace - Jewelmint ]

This past weekend had that real fall feel... leaves totally changing and falling fast and falling asleep to the howling winds. Fall means layering and layering means lots of colors, fabrics, patterns, and textures! I really love this dress and just because it's short doesn't mean you have to hide it in the back of your closet! (A little secret for you... I actually found this Rebecca Taylor dress at a T.J. Maxx! Never give up an opportunity for a designer deal.) The boots (seen here and on Ashley here), puffy vest and scarf kept me warm for the night and really let's that unexpected majestic purple pop!

Fab Finds

With Halloween just two weeks away, we thought we would give you some festive face and nail ideas that would work great with a costume or just for fun!
1. Violent Lips Temporary Lip Tattoos - $15 for a set of 3
Available exclusively at Sephora these lips would be perfect for any halloween costume or maybe even a night on the town! They are said to last for 8 hours and come in 5 colors: blue, gold, pink, red (pictured) and silver. Coincidentally, each of these colors is named "glitterati" which makes us love them even more! We might just have to pick up at set.
This is probably the coolest thing ever! Also available at Sephora (watch how-to video here), this nail polish really crosses many boundaries of what nail polish has ever done for us. Nail art has really taken a stand in fashion and is becoming a very important feature to your adorable little outfits. We almost never want to use the same nail polish color more than once so we can't wait to try this one out! So why not "costume" up your nails.
Then, why not just top this all off with some ULTRA crazy eyelashes and call yourself a sassy Halloween treat! If you have never worn a pair of fake eyelashes, you are missing out. They will change your life. Be a stage queen for a day and bat your long, luscious, PEACOCK eyelashes! (Gotta love Sephora and these crazy things it makes us do.)

Feeling Fall

[ dress, jean jacket - J. Crew, scarf - Forever 21, boots - Lucky Brand ]
Now that New England's Indian Summer has finally subsided, boot season is in full force! I love these new boots by Lucky Brand (also seen here on Ally!) and used them to complete my look. This 3/4 sleeve dress, jacket, and scarf gave me lots of versatility from the chilly October morning to the warmer afternoon. Don't forget, Fall is a great time to combine skirts/dresses and boots so take advantage of the not-too-cold weather and enjoy it!
