Fab Finds

[ Missoni scarves at Anthropologie ]
Since Target's launch of Missoni was extremely brief and actually pretty disastrous, here are some scarves to fill the void.

[ Blazing Poppies Wallpaper - Anthropologie ]
OBSESSED with this wallpaper and just itching to find the perfect place for it... even though I am running out of things to decorate in my house. Some ideas: inside dresser drawers, one accent wall in a bedroom, hallway, as wall art in a huge decorative frame. Have fun with it, don't be afraid of bold color.

Butter London Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection
Bluey
Knees Up
No More Waity, Katie
Toff
Wallis
What better way to accessorize than by giving your nails a nice pop of color and shine?! Butter London's 'Wallis' has been featured in a few fall style magazines so far (see here) so I really wanted to check out the collection at the new Ulta that just opened up near your Glitterati! It was really hard to decide which polishes to actually choose from, there's so many cool colors that are really different from a color you probably already have. And of course, since one of them is dedicated to our dear Kate Middelton... you have to check it out!

Here's a little extra something FOR YOU to get the weekend started... (For You - Timeflies)

Timeflies is a music duo who got their start in Boston, Mass, they produce hip-hop, rap, and pop tracks. The guys are currently on a tour of some U.S. cities including: Athens, GA, NYC, NY, Dayton, OH, then bringing it back to Boston in late October. Their album The Scotch Tape hit #8 on iTunes last Monday and they were featured on VanityFair.com in August. Check them out and look for a show near you!
Happy Friday! xx, A & A

Little Vignettes

This precious little package came today... my first purchase from JewelMint! A jewelry line by Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter that really personalizes your own style and helps you shop their collection. It's being featured in almost every magazine and being worn by some of the hottest celebs so I decided it was my turn! I could definitely get used to receiving pretty packages like this...

The box comes personalized with a description of the piece that you ordered. It's almost like a personalized gift from Kate Bosworth!

[ Fifth Avenue Earrings ]
I plan on wearing these casual with some leggings, or dressed up with a blazer and heels. I guess that's the benefit of them being called "Fifth Avenue" - every time you're there, it's just a glamorous feeling!

[ silk scarf, metallic crop top - Urban Outfitters (similar), Brompton Hobo - J.Crew, corduroy skirt, skinny belt - J.Crew, watch - Michael Kors ]

An attempt at being domestic (note: I am not the culinary student, my sister is... where is she when major preparation dinners are on the menu?!)... anyways, at least during the 2 1/2 hours of making these eggplant rollatini (recipe by Giada) I looked cute in my Anthropologie apron!

Team Spirit

GAME DAY

UMass Amherst vs. Boston College
This past Saturday some friends and I headed out to watch the UMass vs. BC football game and cheer on our respective alma mater's - one UMass (me!) and one BC. Unfortunately living in New England we experience some wild weather and though it was the first real weekend of Fall, it felt more like the middle of August with a looming afternoon storm. The humidity was a killer and put a damper on our planned outfits but we did what we could to show our school spirt!
Shannon [Ray-Ban Wayfarers, BC tee - Victoria's Secret Collegiate line, dark wash jeans]
Ashley [UMass tee - UStore, black leggings - J. Crew]
(not pictured: Rainbow flip flops and Sperry Topsiders)

Regardless of the uncooperative weather we still raised a toast to Fall by sipping on some Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale - a must for fall! Notice the UMass themed nails, one more way to show school spirt. Get creative and don't forget... GO! GO-U! GO UMASS! GO U-MASS

Indian Summer

[ corduroys, belt, wedges, purse - J.Crew, crochet sweater - Urban Outfitters, Ray Ban sunglasses ]

So typical New England to go from practically winter (exaggeration) last week to a muggy, hot first weekend of fall. Problematic when your summer clothes are all tucked away until next year! Managing to make due here with some cropped toothpicks, and an airy crochet sweater... mixing some textures but keeping partial appendages with some breathability. The key to not excessively sweating in this awkward muggy fall weather - sit in a chair and don't move. We wear boots and jackets for about 75% of the year here in New England however, so I was not about to pass up an opportunity to wear my fav wedges again!

[ wrist swag - Cape Cod Herring, J.Crew, Stella & Dot, Banana Republic ]

Fancy Felines

[ leopard cardigan - Banana Republic Mad Men Collection, cafe capris, sequin tank, heels, necklace - J.Crew ]

[ blouse & skirt - Forever 21, heels - Mossimo, headband - Juicy Couture ]

Leopard, leopard everywhere!

L to R: This sweater from Forever 21 looks great paired with black jeans and flats, simple and chic! Next are some killer heels by Guess, worn for the first time on my 21st birthday with none other than a "little black dress" and the combo was a hit! This leopard print scarf is from the Gap and the perfect accessory for a simple t-shirt (in a variety of shades). Top or bottom, leopard prints are sure to liven up an outfit. Go wild!

Fab Finds

Happy Friday!
Here are some fab finds from your glitterati...

[Available online at kate spade and Nordstrom]

"Trend Spotting" strikes again with this fabulous kate spade iPhone 4 cover.
For many of us, our cell phone is our most frequently used "accessory" and it deserves to look just as fun and flirty as we do! Happy texting!

[ Tarte Cheek Stain in Blissful ]

I have never steered away from using my Nars blush until I decided to try this cheek stain. It gives you that glowing sheen that tends to fade with your tan. And the greatest part about it, it smells so good! Tarte's cheek stains have fruity smells and last all day. The best way I discovered how to apply a cheek stain is to rub it onto a makeup sponge, smile, and dab it on the apples of your cheeks.

"Trend Spotting" from J.Crew

New items have arrived, as well as the October catalog for J.Crew, and these polkadots are so feminine and perfect to mix and match with different patterned skirts and pants. So thanks J.Crew for keeping us all in the loop!

Emmy's 2011 - Hot Stuff

Red was so hot, hot, hot at the Emmy's last night! So hot that the ruffles and rouching and pleats speak for themselves and didn't need to be over-glamified. These stand-out ladies used simple jewelry and easy hairstyles to let their red outshine everything else. Sofia Vergara added a touch of Columbian Emeralds to her curve-hugging Vera Wang. Lea Michele in Marchesa rocked the red with a simple hairstyle. Nina Dobrev pumped up her Donna Karan with some Brian Atwood pumps.
Silver and metallics always shine on the red carpet and these 3 ladies are just glowing in it. Cat Deeley always has the best dresses on 'So You Think You Can Dance' so it's really no surprise that she looks stunning in this Monique Lhuillier strapless dress. Heidi Klum, another one of those ALWAYS fabulous blondies in a Christian Siriano cocktail dress (supporting a Project Runway winner) andJo Christian Louboutins. Christina Hendricks really lets her bright red hair and curves pop in a Johanna Johnson embellished number.
Some other Red Carpet trends....

A Walk in the Park

The glitterati's spent this weekend at the park to enjoy the crisp fall weather that seemed to hit New England almost too quickly. However, fall is the best season for clothes and accessories and layering! It's also still warm in the sun so you don't have to hide your fabulous outfits under a big puffy winter coat.
[ Skirt, Sequin Tank, Leopard Cardigan, Brown Leather Hobo - J. Crew, Ray Ban Sunglasses, Forever 21 Cocktail Ring, Earrings - Lia Sophia, Heels - Vince Camuto ]
Leopard is what this season is all about right now. It came out of the Mad Men series in a conservative 50's style, and has been spotted (literally!) in almost every store... no matter what style.

Little Vignettes

[ outfit - J.Crew, watch - Michael Kors ]

Today was how September is supposed to be... warm sun, cool mornings and evenings, and still the time of year where summer clothes are acceptable! I needed to punch up the color palette of this week after last week's drab New England weather. A striped tee paired with a silk pencil skirt is feminine but in a cool/casual way. No fuss necessary. I've also been OBSESSED with the color blocking of J.Crew's current line, so don't be afraid to match a brightly colored skirt with an unexpected  color.

[ necklace - J.Crew, rouge lipstick - Guerlain, earrings - Betsey Johnson ]

[ heels - Franco Sarto ]

Fab Finds

I just stumbled across this FABULOUS site for costume jewelry (at reasonable prices too!). Talk about a perfect way to add some bright color combos to your fall/winter wardrobe. The clothing transition into fall is always a sad one because it means a lot of gray... but thank god, this year bold, bright colors are really taking stage. I will definitely be putting these on my birthday list...

[ 'Wishing Well' - Lia Sophia ]

'Wishing Well' is the epitome of cocktail rings! The colors of the stones (Amber, Diamond, and Black Diamond) allow it to be paired with almost any outfit and of course, it glitters!

[ bracelets - Juicy Couture ]

The bracelets by Juicy (no longer sold) are a great alternative to the typical set of gold and/or silver bangles.

Rainy Days

[ J.Crew jacket, necklace, + sneakers, Madewell jean leggings, Nordstrom striped tee ]

Rainy days in the country side are a good excuse to get a little more casual on a work day. It's hard to get out of the sweatpants mentality but adding a little glam to your life will make your day brighter and happier! It's also that weird transition from summer into fall so don't be afraid to mix pieces from both seasons... your outfit may surprise you.
